To install sewer infrastructure in rocky terrain or high water tables, engineers utilize low-pressure sewer systems equipped with E/One grinder pumps. This approach replaces deep gravity trenches with small, shallow pipes buried just below the frost line, entirely avoiding solid rock excavation.
The Problem with Rock and Water
Installing traditional gravity sewer in solid rock requires blasting, massive excavators, and enormous capital expenditure. Similarly, trenching through high water tables requires extensive dewatering efforts and well-pointing, driving up project costs exponentially.
The Pressure Sewer Solution
Because E/One pressure sewer mains are typically only 2 to 4 inches in diameter and follow the surface contour of the land, they can be installed using horizontal directional drilling (HDD). This means the pipes can be seamlessly pulled through the earth beneath roads, tree roots, and shallow rock beds without opening a massive trench.
